ESG EXPERT ADVISOR (m/f/d)


We are seeking an experienced ESG Expert Advisor to guide our organization in advancing its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance. This role will play a critical part in shaping our sustainability strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, identifying risks and opportunities, and enhancing stakeholder trust through transparent and credible ESG practices.


You will:

  • Lead the development and execution of company-wide sustainability and ESG strategies. 
  • Align ESG initiatives with corporate strategy, stakeholder expectations, and global sustainability frameworks. 
  • Develop holistic consulting concepts for climate protection and adaptation to climate change.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant ESG regulations, standards aligned with the Group Strategy. 
  • Manage the portfolio development in respect to the sustainability targets of UNIQA Corporate Business and regulations of this ESG standard. 
  • Check the client’s ESG-related profile, within the UW process, in case she/he receives requests for deeper analysis from the local underwriter because of the potential exposure to ESG risks. 
  • Be responsible for ESG-related reporting and for the display of the local portfolio according to reporting requirements. 
  • Collaborate with actuarial, risk, finance, and legal teams to ensure accurate and consistent ESG data reporting. 
  • Advise teams on ESG trends, risks, and opportunities, engage with investors, regulators, industry groups, and internal teams to promote ESG integration and services. 
  • Work closely with senior leadership, clients, and regulatory bodies to ensure alignment of risk and sustainability objectives. Represent the company at industry conferences and profile meetings.
  • Conduct research to track industry trends, market dynamics, and the competitive landscape, and use this information to shape and refine the sustainability goals and services.
  • Support cross-functional teams in embedding ESG into business operations and decision-making and promote sessions and workshops to build internal ESG awareness and capabilities.

You have:

  • A bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Risk Management, Finance, Insurance, or a related field
  • Overview and knowledge of current market trends is advantageous
  • Several years of professional experience in consulting with a focus on sustainability/ESG and/or product development, or risk management, preferably within the insurance or financial services sector, or related domain. Knowledge of ESG ratings and sustainability reporting is advantageous
  • Proven experience in ESG strategy development, reporting, and stakeholder engagement
  • SASB FSA Credential, GRI Certified Training Program, CFA ESG Investing Certification, or similar is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, ESG regulations, and best practices in sectors such as insurance, finance, energy, etc.
  • Knowledge of ESG frameworks, global sustainability standards, and regulatory trends, with a focus on the EU Taxonomy, CSRD, and CSDDD
  • Strong analytical, communication, and advisory skills
  • Experience in working with executive teams and influencing corporate governance
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Proficient in MS Office and CRM tools
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen
